Why Choose Us?

What doula support looks like. Double Hip Squeeze. Early labor support.

Of all the options available to you, why would you choose Eugene Birth & Family Doula Agency for birth and postpartum support?

We Save You Time!

Our community is blessed with a large and growing number of birth and postpartum doulas.  This is a wonderful situation to have in a community of our size, but as a family searching for support, it can be overwhelming to sort through all the options.  We have hand-selected our doula team and are confident that you will find our doulas to be skilled, professional, and warm.  They are people that we want on our team, and we are confident that you’ll be glad to have them on your team!  As an agency, we value integrity, service, and connection and the doulas on our team reflect those values.  You can trust that you will have quality, available support.

Matched, Not Assigned

We know that every doula is not the right fit for every family.  As part of our intake process, you will have a discovery call with Laura or myself where we will get to know your personality, lifestyle and religious preferences, needs, and budget or insurance information.  We then match you with the doula that we think is your best fit. We are pretty good at matching, but you will interview her to make sure.  Our goal is your enthusiastic “yes, she’s my doula!”.  If after the interview you’re not sure she’s the doula for you, we will match you with someone else.

Layers of Support

Sometimes the unexpected happens.  Our goal is always for your doula to make it to your birth, but sometimes life gets in the way.  If for any reason your doula can’t make it to your birth, she has a backup, and if the backup is unavailable, then Laura or I would get a call and one of us would come and support you.  These layers of support mean that you are covered, no matter what.

Advocacy

There are different philosophies out there about whether or not doulas advocate, and what the limits of that advocacy are.  As detailed in this blog post, our doulas advocate!

“Advocacy does not equal animosity!”

Early Labor Support

More and more doulas are joining their clients at their birthing location, when they are in active labor.  But so much of the emotional and mental work of labor happens at home, before you transfer to the hospital or birthing center, and before your midwife arrives if you’re having a home birth!  Your Eugene Birth & Family doula comes to your home and helps you settle into labor, find your best coping strategies, answers your questions and soothes your anxieties, and with the experienced eye of a knowledgeable doula, helps you to determine when is the right time to transfer to your birth location.  No one wants to get sent home because they’re too early, and no one wants a parking lot baby!  Your doula helps you avoid those scenarios so that your mind and body can relax into the rhythms of labor.

So why choose Eugene Birth & Family Doula Agency for birth and postpartum support? Because we have made YOU the first priority in our business. And we are here to serve.
